. michelle bachmann is the only other candidate in double digits. bad news in the poll for jon huntsman. 2% of the vote. hundredsman can't catch a break in the endorsement game. his former chief of staff, utah congressman and future senator is endorsing mitt romney calling him more lectable. interesting number for you this morning in iowa. iowa republicans are souring on ethanol subsidies. in a new poll conducted by consumer voter research, for the iowa republican 47% of likely republican caucus goers have a very or somewhat positive view of a candidate who wants to cut ethanol subsidies. 24% have a negative reaction to that. finally overnight, tim pawlenty's numbers got higher. he's bringing in the daughter of mike huckabee to run his campaign. she helped put together that campaign in iowa for her dad to win the caucuses and finish second in the straw poll. in an effort to engage the young and tech savvy the president is holding a tweet up this afternoon. topic is the economy and jobs but the thousands of 140 character or less queries submitted versus the ask obama hash tag includes marij

, the seeming front runner. jon huntsman has made it clear that he will not compete in iowa. he could be a formidable challenger. the question is will that steepen the victory for the people that come out of that state doing well or not? what inevitably happens in iowa is the person who comes out of that race comes out with a lot of momentum. what is important is not just the perception among voters, but the perception among donors. so what you will see is people cashing in on those victories. i think iowa is an important state no matter to compete staircase. how important it will be remains to be seen. host: kathy kiely is the politics managing editor. the numbers to call -- a story in "to "the huffington post" recently -- how does that play out in terms of candidates figuring out their strategy and carrying their message? guest: it plays out because this is one of the controversial aspects of our election system. we use an electoral college system which makes certain states very important, states where the candidates know the battle will be closely fought. other states become flight
as well. tim pawlenty, 3%. jon huntsman, who has staked a lot of his campaign on winning new hampshire and had this big rollout with a lot of media coverage, only at 2% at this point. he is right there with herman cain and newt gingrich. surprising numbers there and very good numbers for mitt romney. we mentioned in that poll there, tim pawlenty, he also is not doing very well in that poll. he is hoping, obviously, to win iowa where is he staking all of his campaign and brought what is basically a pretty good political young gun on his squad, sarah huckabee sanders, the doubt of mike huckabee, who won the iowa caucuses back in 2008, she has joined his campaign. so you can say that tim pawlenty is looking for some huck luck. and sarah huckabee was a big part of the huckabee campaign and will be a big part of pawlenty's campaign. if pawlenty will do well in iowa, sarah huckabee will be a big bet to help him because right now, he needs all of the help he can get. >> jim acosta, thanks. your next political update in an hour. always get all of the political news 24/7 at cnn/politics.com. >>
the people vying for the president's jobber were also hard at work this weekend. former utah governor jon huntsman barn stormed in new hampshire, which hosts the nation's first primary. minnesota representative michele bachmann was out in full force in iowa, six weeks ahead of the state's straw poll. she is running neck and neck with presumed front runner mitt romney, according to a recent state poll, and this weekend she tried to build on that momentum. lesser known candidate businessman herman cain, also tried to shore up support in the hawk why state, stumping at a godfather pizza, the company he used to run. the seoul african-american gop candidate recently released this video touting his tea party credentials. >> i was in a tea party before it was cool. >> reporter: in ohio over the weekend, cain said he's gaining traction. >> if you average out all of the polls that i'm in third place behind mitt romney and michele bachmann, and they have twice the name id, i think i have the ball because as my name iid spreads, i have nowhere to go but up. >> even former president bill clinton is w
